“Bébitte is an act in development that uses physical research based on reciprocal movement and acrobatics with a partner to explore how we navigate relationships that are both interdependent and restrictive. How can we empower ourselves to see our wholeness rather than seeking to be completed by the other?”

Biography

Founded in 2019 by Agathe Bisserier, Nathan Biggs-Penton and Adrien Malette-Chénier, the company has now welcomed a new member, Samuelle McGowan-Richer. Since its creation, it has mobilized nearly 40 Québec artists and invested in developing local presenting networks. Through engaged and deeply human performances, awareness-raising workshops, professional talks, as well as partnerships with doctors and researchers in environmental and social science, the company is actively committed on multiple fronts.

Approach

Acting for Climate Montréal’s mission is to create socially and environmentally engaged performances by applying new, socially conscious and eco-responsible standards for creation and touring. The company aims to inspire audiences and artists to act for a sustainable future. Far beyond carbon-neutral, sustainability for them encompasses the environment as well as human relationships, ways of communicating, daily workload, and other environmental and social issues of our time.
