For over a decade, Mykalle has explored the intersections of music and live arts through ritualized performances. Her album Da Pacem (2024) fuses singing and electronic music, revisiting sacred texts in Latin, Greek, Bulgarian, and English. Her work explores the sacred with emotional depth, uniting beings and giving meaning to human existence.
Biography
Originally from Québec City, Mykalle has been working for over a decade at the crossroads of music and live arts. She is best known for her trilogy of ritualized musical performances: the 360-degree multimedia opera Gloria (2015), the women’s choir Mythe (2018), and the ecological ritual Warm up (2021). Mykalle has also composed the music for some fifty projects and has performed in Québec, across Canada, in the United States, and in Europe. A graduate of UQAM’s École Supérieure de Théâtre in acting, she published in 2021 Mythe, preceded by Gloria with Éditions du Passage, and the album Da pacem in 2024.
Approach
Crystalline, gentle, and powerful, Mykalle’s voice reaches into the deepest intimacy as well as the universal. Accompanied by electroacoustic music, Mykalle stages it in immersive spaces and combines it with ritual gestures and poetic texts. Her works invite meditation and connection. They explore the sacred—what unites beings and gives meaning to their existence—beyond dogma and prejudice. Through her practice, Mykalle offers a contemporary and compassionate approach to spirituality, in tune with the challenges of the 21st century.
