“The residency showing will support me in this final stage of creation for my solo What Inhabits Me, presented in May 2025 (in Montreal). Sharing my work with an audience that knows me little will prepare me to cultivate the level of presence, intimacy, and commitment I wish to have during its presentation.”

Biography

Inspired by all forms of movement and naturopathy, Marie-Reine Kabasha has had the opportunity to work with creators with refined and versatile artistic languages such as Tentacle Tribe, EBNFLOH, Brigitte Poupart, Grand poney, and We all fall down.

She is now investing in her own language through a creative process called “What Inhabits Me.” Whether in freestyle, theater, or teaching, each opportunity for exchange nourishes her.

Approach

Marie-Reine Kabasha’s artistic practice is based on developing improvisation structures and choreographic tools that foster authentic physical expression. She is interested in the notion of self-acceptance and works alongside movement and expression facilitators to dismantle certain censorship mechanisms that hinder the body and one’s relationship to oneself.

It is a practice that invites us to accept both the parts of ourselves we appreciate and those we would prefer to hide. To see ourselves entirely, in order to exist entirely in community. To fully embody ourselves through movement to bring expression to the surface of the psyche.
