Biography
Valérie Clermont-Girard is a transdisciplinary artist whose practice combines poetry, body, and the living. Her ecofeminist creations are born first from the senses and the felt, and seek to inscribe themselves in deep time. Also a researcher with the research group Ecopoetic Approaches to Contemporary Dramaturgies (UQAM) and active on the literary scene, she has received distinctions as finalist (2024) and laureate (2025) in the Place des Arts and UQAM Poetry Night competition. In parallel, she works to democratize poetry by leading cultural mediation projects, creative writing workshops, and the Word & Poetry events.
Approach
millefolium is a hybrid project combining poetry and dramaturgy. During the writing periods that will alternate between the willow cocoon of the Cultural Meadow and the studio, the aim is to explore the presence of the living within the poem itself. In this initially textual space, the realities of woman and the living—particularly ordinary flora—will be interwoven. This project seeks to evolve toward a living poetry, that is, a poetry that will overflow the page and be carried by voice and body, before (with) the other and the more-than-human; a gesture of survival and (re)rooting.
