Sara A. Tremblay

Visual art
Friday 29 August 2025
DesPrés — 57 Principale Nord Street, Sutton, QC
Following her experiments with the white tarp from the Tout t’empêche project—worn, marked by the elements, and transformed into a pictorial surface—the artist invites you to discover a new phase of her research. By painting her own backdrops, she explores the background as an active agent in the image. These surfaces, like objects or bodies, come to life in front of the camera, shape the visual narrative, and fully participate in the work. Come see how the set becomes a presence, engages in dialogue with the figures, and transforms the way we look.
Sara A. Tremblay is a visual artist based in Orford since 2018. Her practice—at the intersection of photography, performance, and installation—explores personal ecology and our relationship to place. Winner of the MNBAQ Prix en art actuel (2023), she has exhibited notably at the MNBAQ, Galerie B-312, and the Colby-Curtis Museum. She has taken part in several artist residencies, and her work has been published in Esse, Ciel variable, and Vie des arts. Deeply engaged in her community, she founded Les Encans de la quarantaine (2020) and has been actively involved in the Grande mobilisation pour les arts au Québec (GMAQ) since spring 2024.
