Biography

Our encounter, guided by chance in a foundry, establishes an attentive collaboration between fire and water. Antoine Caron, a Concordia graduate, explores social dynamics by transforming everyday objects and questioning their uses. Fenyx Florentiny, a Martinican artist based in Quebec, anchors their queer and decolonial practice in the relationships between bodies, ecologies, and Caribbean imaginaries. Together, they develop sensitive and situated research, blending performance, installation, and material experimentation. Their collaboration favors slowness, listening, and interrelation, intersecting textuality, sensuality, and situated knowledge to explore the connections between territories, bodies, and environments.

Approach

This residency project is based on a duo collaboration, motivated by a belief in research as a space for drift and creation. The artists wish to intersect their practices, opposed yet linked by a common interest in undisciplined and situated approaches. Through the exploration of local rivers, they will study the relationships between aquatic environments, biotopes, and social dynamics. Guided by slowness and listening, they will gather materials and experiences transformed into installations and performances. The project questions deviance, contamination, and interrelation, while blending textuality, sensoriality, and situated knowledge, in order to lay the foundations for a lasting artistic collaboration.
