Audrée Wilhelmy will present research situated at the intersection of literature, visual arts, and craft. Using materials found on the land (plant fibers, bark, seeds, feathers, bones, and mineral fragments), she will create three talismans inspired by themes of flora, elevation, and hospitality.

Biography

Audrée Wilhelmy is a writer and visual artist based in Quebec. Her work explores the links between narrative, matter, and ritual through writing, sculpture, and the creation of talismans blending natural materials with jewelry techniques. Her objects, designed as narrative forms, question how matter can carry meaning and memory. The author of several novels published in France and Quebec, her work has been a finalist for and winner of numerous awards. Her practice unfolds at the crossroads of the literary and the plastic arts, in a search attentive to forms, gestures, and modes of writing.

Approach

Her approach is based on a form of material narration where matter becomes a sentence, gesture becomes syntax, and the object is read like a text. Through the use of jewelry-making, weaving, and assembly techniques, she composes works that invest meaning into fragments collected in an ethical and respectful manner toward the living world. The object is not viewed as a found artifact, but as a constructed statement.

Through her literary and visual works, Audrée Wilhelmy explores themes of transformation, memory, transmission, and the relationship between women, the land, and the living world. Her creations take the form of embodied narratives where fragility and resistance meet, in a search that extends writing beyond the book and turns the work into a place of experience, contemplation, and connection.
