In Those Who Invade, Faustine Escoffier focuses on so-called invasive plants, such as buckthorn, common reed, and knotweed. Through foraging and transforming them into paper, prints, and baskets, she questions the narratives of rejection or attachment we maintain with these species marginalized by our lifestyles.

Biography
Faustine Escoffier is a visual artist who draws her materials from nature through foraging and transforming plants. A fine arts graduate from Bishop’s University, she deepened her research through residencies at Sagamie/centre BANG, CACJC, Rurart, and Ateliers Presse Papier. Her work has been presented in several group exhibitions and supported by CALQ, the ART+Environment prize from CCE, the Fonds de recherche du Québec, and the Denis Charland Grant. She also shares her expertise through mediation and advanced workshops in engraving, papermaking, zine, and artist books.
Approach
Through foraging and transforming plants, Faustine Escoffier creates her own raw materials, thus transforming the act of harvesting into an artistic gesture. She explores the relationship between humans and plants, attentive to the forms of coexistence and metamorphosis that plants reveal. Her works take the form of papers, prints, artist books, and hybrid objects that bear witness to a sensitive relationship with living things. Her approach lies between art, research, and craftsmanship, where each material experience becomes a poetic inquiry into our relationship with the plant world and the cultural narratives that shape our perception.
